Chicken Update

posted Sunday, 29 January 2006
Here are some pictures I took today of the chickens, while walking my 5 miles around them.  (I'm listening to Pterry's Feet of Clay from Audible and a couple of Firefly/Serenity related podcasts.)
This is Pink, Blue (Crested Silver Polish) and Crump (Silver Grey Dorking).  All are elderly hens enjoying this easy winter.

This is Lingo, the abberant Dorking.  She was supposed to be Silver Grey like Crump, above, but is much darker.  A mutation, I think, rather than just a mix-up at the hatchery, because she really isn't the color of Red or Dark Dorkings.  Nice hen, anyhow.
Remember Egbert, the sole chick we suceeded in incubating two springs ago? Egbert is a Langshan-Brahma cross.

And here is the boss rooster of the new flock, Bugle.

Egbert is Adorable! When we finally get land, hubby has expressed a deep, abiding interest in chickens and little goats. At work the other day, he was looking in amazement at all of the different kinds of chickens there are. :) - knitlette
