Comments on Up Island Eggs Socks for Fair?

posted Wednesday, 7 July 2004

I'd love comments on my latest project.  I'm working on a sock knitting
display for my county fair in August.  Last year's display was of short row
toes and self-patterning yarn.  This year I'm going to show several ways to
get two color socks.  I'm going to show examples in self-patterning yarn, 2
slip stitches, and a stranded pattern.

I've uploaded to my website drafts of the posters I'm planning and the
handout that goes with them.  In addition, attatched to the poster will be a
SIP for each of the patterns.  I'll also be sitting nearby (mostly at my
loom weaving) with the other half of the SIP pair to demonstrate when people
have questions.  Here is the link,

The handout and display are designed for people who are already sock
knitters and know about short rows, but want to start working with 2 colors.
I'd be interested to hear your comments on my draft.  The posters have to
fit on one cork bulletin board, and the handout is one page, folded in
quarters, so I don't have much room to add much text.  And the real
printouts look much better than the web page - which you'll probably only
want to click on if you have a fairly fast connection.

I'm madly knitting up the sample SIPs, 3 are started (self-patterning,
stranded, and one of the slips).
Thanks!
