At last year's county fair I had a display explaining short row toe and heels. I'd used Opal yarn and all most knitters were interested in was the self-patterning yarn, not the technique I was displaying. This year I thought I'd show ways to get color into socks, with examples of half-finished socks. I'm planning on one of each of the following:
Self patterning yarn
Slip Stitch/Mosaic
Color Stranded/Fair Isle
And I'll leave
Duplicate Stitch
Intarsia/Argyles
Entrelac
Twined Double Knitting
for next year (maybe! since I don't know how to do them yet, though I'd think duplicate stitch would be pretty easy)

The self patterning socks I'm knitting will work fine, as will the color stranded pair (blue and yellow). But I think the slip stich one is too subtle(purples and gold). The lighting in the tent at night is not bright, so I'd better start a slip stitch pair with more contrast.
