Our friend Jules Worthington had his annual art show opening at the Chilmark bank this afternoon. Judy always has marvelvous nibbles and wine (and we took the Kicking Cow Montasio cheese I'd made in February). Jules has branched out a bit from his lovely landscapes of the island and places he has been lately (Italy, New Zealand, Ireland). The Tiger gives me hope that he will eventually paint a chicken. This Tiger frightened their African Grey Parrot, Bloom, and I'm sure it would terrify our chickens. (FYI, Twig the squished hen seems to have recovered. She is still limping, but is back out with the flock.)

However we fell in love with the "twin" to a painting we got from Jules a few years ago. The first painting is of the olive grove of a farm in Tuscany. And this, below, is what you see if you turn around and look behind the olive grove. Tom and I agree than when the current difficulties about travel go away, we want to go back to Italy - maybe even look up the farm that the paintings are from.

(and this photo does not do the painting justice in any way.)
The Montasio was much appreciated, particularly by people involved in the whole "slow food" movement - very big on the island. But, though we cook "slower" than many, the idea of a group to appreciate it with potlucks just doesn't appeal right now.
