We had one of those town meetings last night to rehash all the old issues we have gone over and over again at other meetings. Stuff we didn't understand and voted down had come back to haunt a badly divided town. But about 10% of the voters trudged out in the cold and damp to do civic duties.
And before any of the proceedings could officially begin, many of us had to make a hard, unofficial to telling decision. We had to, as we walked in, glance around at the people who were already seated in the West Tisbury school gym and select the most compatible knitters to sit with. You gotta sit next to another knitter who would be most likely to admire what you are are knitting, or know how to help you out if you get stuck, or have extra stitch markers or other supplies as needed, and who among the non-knitters nearby is not going to mine chasing a ball of yarn down that is rolling under three rows of seats.
I worked on a Fair Isle hat. I'm closing up the top now. The curled bottom band will get turned under.

And this is what it is supposed to look
like. It is a kit in fingering weight Digit yarn from Nancy's Knit Knacks. I've a
Fair Isle vest planned for the next project (Mama, you afghan is on back order but will eventually show up) from Knit Picks. It is in a heavier weight alpaca. And once that is done and I've mastered my fear of steeks, I'll do another
Fair Isle vest with Digit. It isn't so much the steeks, I think I understand that, it is attaching the bands around the steeks that is confusing. But that is a long way and a lot of knitting from here.
