See! Snow! Just the barest dusting, but nevertheless real, sticking early morning snow. I'm so glad all our shopping is done and except for getting the mail, we are in fo rthe day.
Here is the menu, and its progress, for T'day.
Starters are crackers with salami, hard and soft cheese, dates stuffed with goat cheese, and olives. (Note to self, check the cheese refrig for some of the cheese we made)
Sides are
creamed spinach (made yesterday)
butternut squash (made)
buttered pasta with parm
Yorkshire pudding with horseradish cream on the side
green salad (being brought)
citrus salad with pommelo, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pommegranite (sp?) and zest of Buddha's Hand (make today)
(I continue to mull over whether I need another veggie or starch. Tom doesn't think so. Rice would be easy, so would peas, baked onions would be good if I could get them in the oven with the main dish.)
Main dish
5 rib roast beef (make tommrow)
Dessert
Cranberry Walnut pie (made by Judy)
Creme Brulee (made) with meringues (maybe, depends on how the day goes)
We will postpone the scalloped oysters for Chistmas Eve. We usually have stuffed squid on C'Eve, but Tom can't chew that well yet so oysters will be the treat.
